Format Penta Tpad IS701R or Installing OS Penta Tpad IS701R

If you have following problems with your BSNL Penta IS701R Tab:
  • Wi-Fi not working
  • Wi-Fi switching off and on its own
  • Battery status not accurate
  • Memory card not read by the device
  • Device internal memory shows zero bytes
  • BSNL and Penta logo appears and nothing happens (Device Hanging)
  • Device stuck on Android logo
  • Tablet not taking touch inputs correctly
  • Forgot password
It could be resolved easily. Simply follow the instructions given below:
1. System Requirement: The computer must be installed with Windows XP. Remove all USB disks & make sure the tablet power is sufficient.

 2. Download Software: The software and OS files which you will be using during the upgrade.

3. Extract Folder: After extracting  zip file you will find two sub-folders “File 1” and “File 2”

 4. File 1: Now open “File 1” folder. Click on IUWI.2 A new window will Open.

5. Insert Micro SD Card: Insert a micro SD card in a card reader and attach it to the system. Please make sure no other USB Disk’s (like pen drive, printer etc.) is attached to the system while following these instructions.

 6. Select Image Files of OS: In the window which you have got in the Step 4 where it says “Choose a wrapped image“ browse and open “File 2” and Select file “F117_android_1310721.ius”

 7. Check for the Micro SD Card: If you have inserted a Micro SD Card. In the same window select your Micro SD Card “Choose an SD Drive”

 8. Burn files to Micro SD Card: Then select “Boot Disk” from left pane and click on “Burn” at the bottom right.

 9. Process Complete: When the process is complete, you will not see any File/Folder on the Micro SD Card. However the file is there. Next, remove the Micro SD Card.
10. Insert the Micro SD Card into the T-PAD: Now press the Power Button. The process will start automatically.
  • Now Device will boot from SD card.
  • Press the Back button which is located just below the camera at the right side.
  • Follow the on screen instructions.
  • A notification will appear & then Remove the Micro SD Card.
  • The BSNL IS701R Android system will Reboot.
  • Follow on screen instructions to Calibrate the touch screen.
Yeah, Software Upgradation is completed. You have done it. If you have any query post it.

    Hi i tried your steps properly but when i start the tablet it boots from sd and throws the error - Update package is damaged . Please let me know what i should do now

      Dear Shanmanton You have done some thing mistake because i tried these steps my self and secondly This error Update package is damaged comes after formatting the card or memory stick. So Please try once more time and if problem persist please call me on my No. 9958917184

    m unable to choose an sd drive ....i have just bought a new sd card n inserted in card reader n attached to my lap...it shows in my computer that the card has been attached....but not in d iuw file..wht m i supposed to do now? help on this asap...

      Hi Sheetal, if ur card is not getting detected follow these steps
      1. format the card.
      2. try it on windows xp on a desktop pc
      3. disable any firewall
      4. try different ports .
      5. try different sd card

    It works.
    Your method solved my problem. (Tab was continuous restarting)
    (first when I tried to make a boot disc in Windows 7 it was giving me same error 'Update package is damaged' , but in XP it worked perfectly.)

    sir my tab is continuously booting.pressed the back button and power button together and got the message "no recovery image found,try boot from sd card"..contacted pantel and they send me a link.downloaded it and did like u said above and still it shows "no recovery image found,try boot from sd card"..pls help me sir

    Hi Deependra,

    I have a T-Pad 701R. It works fine except that its T-Flash card reader does not read the files in SD Card (16 GB).
    I tried and followed all the steps mentioned here exactly and was able to re-installed the OS.
    But even after that, its still not reading memory card.

    I created the OS image in 2 GB SD card. While installing, it read the OS image through TF slot only. So not sure why it does not read the memory card in normal condition.

    Can you please point out what could be wrong there.
    Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.

      Dear Deepak,

      Penta is showing that memory card is supported upto 32 GB but in reality it only reads a memory size upto 8 GB properly. So i would recommend you that please check with 8 GB memory card if problem persist please let me know. Then i will check for solution.

    Previously when I had a problem with my tablet ,I formatted that following the above instructions.It's PERFECT!!
    Now I had same problem and now when I am inserting the SD card with OS on it tablet is not detecting it.Will it works only once .Help me on this.

      Deependraji, thanks for reply, i used xp for making SD bootable. is there any suitable OS for this tablet ? I have one more tablet, it is china make and I have successfully updated it with uberoid version. First I tried same version for this bsnl tablet but not getting success. Please advise what to do ?       Dear shailesh, I think u r doing some mistakes otherwise it would have been fixed because I have checked these steps n those r working. And I don't thinkthat there is any other is compatible for this device any ways if u have problem then call me after 10pm on my no. 9958917184 and install team viewer so that I can check the process.       Deependraji, i have one more tablet of same series, and it has same problem. Once i have done restore pressing HOME + POWER ON KEY + HOME KEY again and I got restores massage also but after rebooting of tablet result is same. May I will call you tomorrow.

    Dear sir,
    I have successfully completed all the steps given above . My Panta is701r is now working.
    MY problem is previously i am able to play angry bird, angry bird RIO game in panta but after doing this process i am not able to play this games. When ever i select the game it comes to menu screen. nothing happen. Please help me regarding this.

      There is nothing like this please reinstall the Angry bird and try again if problem persist please reset your penta tablet again and then work with it.

    Dear sir i have Bsnl penta is701c when m charging the tab the screen will be blurr and fluctuate and the colour of display will be dim amd line shows . after removal the charger every thing is fine and plz tell is this os file is also best for is701c penta tab.

    Hi! I would first of all thank you very much, you saved me man! Thanks a lot. And also i would like to tell few things which might help above people who were not able to boot.
    This software works in Win 7, because i did in that only.
    Your memory card should be password free. Sometime new memort card also gets locked, in my first three attempt i was not able to do because my mc was locked by my phone.
    After burning, insert memory card, and press both button before switiching on the tab, that is when you insert memory card, press the back button and power button together, it will start a timer and press back button again, and you are done. It took me five attempts to figure this out. LOL

    Worked once...but i am having same problem now and this process is not working ,,,,,,,tab bears a message saying "recovery image not found,boot from sd card" And then nothing works or happens..............
